The Hampton Inn in Gaylord receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its friendly staff and convenient location. However, recurring concerns include cleanliness issues, outdated facilities, and problems with key card functionality. Recent renovations are underway, but have introduced some temporary disruptions and cleanliness concerns.
We had stayed for multiple days. The staff is friendly and courteous. However, the amenities are outdated and the bare minimum of offerings. I was under the impression that the pool was heated, and the water was quite cold. Also, as a heads up, while breakfast runs from 6-10am, almost all of the heated food had run out an hour prior to the end of breakfast time (9am). I would add this was on a Saturday morning, where there is more foot traffic and I would imagine overall guests. It appears the hotel does not accommodate for stocking breakfast weekends versus weekday. I share this, as on Friday morning there was still some hot breakfast available after 9am. NOTE: Several issues with key cards for hotel room. You should always carry your ID / wallet on you, as they ask for that in order to re-activate new cards for you. Overall, I would not recommend a friend to stay here.
my stay was really nice. everyone is very friendly and helpful. the pool was nice and warm and the breakfast had some good choices.
????? I had a wonderful stay at this Hampton Inn! The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing visit. What really stood out, though, was the outstanding staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help throughout my stay. The front desk team went above and beyond by providing great recommendations for local restaurants and things to do in the area. Their suggestions helped me make the most of my trip and discover some fantastic spots I otherwise might have missed. I truly appreciated the excellent customer service and attention to detail. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!
Never would have thought I would be stuck in Gaylord. Snowmaggedon 26 made me, my mom and 8 month old, residents of the very accommodating Hampton Inn. The general manager Jennifer is so kind, hospitable, and hard working .I feel I owe her big time. The rooms were clean. The pool was nice. The staff was super helpful. It really made a bad situation easier to handle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your over and above assistance.
Stayed 2 nights a day felt was great value. Rooms was clean, staff was helpful, parking was easy and breakfast was a decent surprise. One suggested would be to warm the pool a little more in the winter months.
The room was kind of dated and I only gave it two stars because the bathtub had a huge chip out of it. That was Rusty next to the drain I was only showering but it was fine. But if I came to this room and had children that wanted to take a bath I would not put them in there. The refrigerator was set so cold that it froze all of my beverages, there was no microwave, the roller shade in the room was off the track so you couldn't even get it down all the way, they didn't include any kind of channel guide in the room so you had no clue what was on any of the proprietary channels they had set up.
Jenn helped make our reservation and she was great, super helpful, and respectful. When we arrived Cynthia checked us in and she was amazing! Cynthia was so kind she even offered to help us bring in all of our stuff she’s a sweetheart!! I’m so sorry I forget the ladies name that helped us when leaving but she was super nice as well. All 3 girls that we had interactions with were amazing!!!! The room was clean, nice and everything was stocked. Highly recommend staying here! Amber Schaefer
BEWARE, CONFIRMED BED BUGS AT THIS LOCATION! We checked in 12/27/2025, after an hour in the room we noticed an insect on the bed, captured it in a plastic bag, and confirmed it was a bed bug. We promptly demanded a refund and presented the pest to the staff. We have been staying with Hampton Inn for 30 years and have always been very pleased with the accommodations. However, this location appears to be old and in need of renovation. I would not recommend this location under any circumstances. There are better/newer/cleaner options in the area.
Giving two stars because I haven’t had a chance to interact with staff yet as I haven’t seen any in the four times I’ve gone in and out the front doors running bags up and doing a run to the store. But if you read the other reviews you’ll see feedback on dirty rooms, wrinkled beds etc and that is everything and more in our room too. Plus, the garbages weren’t taken out. Been driving for two days and we’re just going to sleep. Idk why we felt we needed to get a Friday night hotel for $475 in Gaylord Michigan but at that price for one night you’d expect a lot better. Stayed at a homewood suite last night for 230 in Ontario that blows this place out of the water. Moldy shower caulk nasty booty carpet dated rooms. Whichever reviewer said this hotel “must be fairly new” has to be over 80 years old themselves. I’m not taking pictures, they look identical to the room pictured in reviews below. Edit: Nah taking another star off for the non washed sheets that smell like bodily fluids. This is beyond ok. Edit again: Woke up for some breakfast. Cool, a bottle of toilet cleaner and a wet rag next to the waffles and condiments. That’s good you might be cleaning toilets here I guess.
I have been a silver member for a few years. I can only give 2 stars. Location was great. Went into room 313. Room appeared clean when walking in. Turned down the bed after a long drive. Sheets seemed clean. There was a musty smell so I checked the air filter, it was dirty and really needed cleaned. Window was very dirty. Bathroom wasn't horrible but sink was barely draining after brushing my teeth. I left the building and came back to find a door that was unlocked and did not lock. I told the front desk and they told me it never locks and did not seem too worried about it. THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF GUESTS IS THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE!. I am in law enforcement and I cannot believe this was not important and if this is always unlocked then that's to bad for the guests. I won't be staying there again.
