Reviewers appreciate the clean, modern rooms, comfort of the beds, and friendly service from staff like Brenda and Joline, specifically noting the widely accessible and well-equipped common areas (24-hour gym, arcade). However, guests frequently complain about the lack of amenities such as microwaves and the thermostat in public spaces being set excessively high.
We use this place for snowmobiling in the winter. Lots of room for our trailer and close access to trails. Rooms are nice enough for price paid and morning breakfast is pretty good. They were about 45 minutes late opening breakfast each day but didn't matter too much. Friendly accommodating staff.
Hilton is really going downhill. I've been a member for years and have always tried to stay at Hilton brand hotels. Problem is they suck! I get better service at Holiday Inn! I booked a room and even paid extra only to get to the hotel and be told I couldn't have that room or floor. This is ridiculous that they dont care. I'm to the point where I will be canceling my card and going elsewhere. I've tried to reach out to Hilton and I get no response and chats conveniently get disconnected. Horrible service throughout the company.
The handicap accessible rooms water pressure was so low I couldn't rinse out my hair and the blackout curtains didn't work. I couldn't get light in the room. Ended up checking out a day early. Also, i'm a diamond member meaning I've stayed over 30 days in a hilton hotel last year and I haven't checked out early because of an issue, this is a first.
Room was clean and spacious and so was the bathroom. I don't feel like I have to make room for the luggage and walking path so that's very nice ? Room service comes every other day so for 2nd day you'd have to ask for fresh towels. Service did come promptly ? The floor (4th) was quiet and beds were comfortable. USB-embedded alarm clock was convenient. There was a 2-person bench in addition to the desk chair so it's nice. The reception area was modern and wide open with pool table and board games for anyone to use ? There was a gym and indoor pool. They looked nice but we didn't get to use them. Breakfast was served everyday with decent selections. Pancakes, eggs and sausages, oatmeal, bagels/bread, milk and juices ? ? The only shortfall for us was the lack of microwave in the room. We had to go back down to the reception area and there was one microwave to use. We assumed it was in the room but it wasn't. The area was pretty lively, coffee shop, Walgreens, fast food... Lots of options.
Nice rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast, nice showers. Front desk guy Xander was very friendly n even went out of his way to get breakfast going an hour early for us since we had to hit the road. We'll definitely be back
No microwave, no coffee, coffee in the lobby is cold after 4, which tells me they likely don't clean the machines. As for the comments from management under other reviews about "modern minimalism," minimalism is about forgoing excess for the sake of simplicity and functionality. Why is there a wall length bench and a 40 inch TV screen but no way to heat r reheat food if you're trying to apply modern minimalism? Truth is you didn't want to pay for the appliances. I despise a lie more than anything, Just be upfront about it being about cost cutting.
Not bad, just okay. The bathroom in my room wasn't all that clean. The shower had engrained dirt and the floor had foot prints. The sink drain has visible mold. The room was very compact but I didn't mind since it was just me and a short stay. The staff members I had interacted with are not friendly or welcoming. My digital key and mobile check-in plan didn't work because nothing was approved on their end. The location was super confusing at night - I wasn't able to turn left into the main drive (one way) and bypassed the entrance near the Biggby sign. When I attempted to turnaround, I ended up taking the highway on ramp after the light.
Just wish they had a whirlpool, And microwaves in room. Has 24hr gym and little convenience store24 hrs. Great coffee always avaliable in lobby 24hrs, plenty of seating and big T.Vs to enjoy Detroit Lions,Pool Table Too!! Everything else was ? great also. You need something ask do there best to accommodate.
I have to say, this was the worst couple nights I have ever had in any Hotel. Lower level Hotels far exceeded this Hilton in Gaylord, MI. The thermostat did not work. It seems as though the heat had been turned off, but it continued to blow (loudly) cold air. We had a room for pets, and clearly, the floor had not been cleaned. We had to ensure we wore shoes just to get out of bed. I further asked for a couple blankets, which the Front Desk never brought. I had to call again. They had forgotten, apparently. So much for customer service, which was terrible, given this Hotel's price range. There was no closet, only a pole in the middle of a wall with hangers, and an ironing board in full view. The bathroom had soap dispensers, which were difficult to figure out, but when we finally did, they required squeezing the soap out. Being older, I did not have much strength, which made it difficult to get the soap out. I can imagine someone with arthritis in their hands. They would not be able to easily access the soap, if at all. Very poorly designed, uncomfortable Hotel room. In whole, I would never stay here again. With multiple problems and discomfort, its not with the price.
I love tru by Hilton for the modern look and this was one of the best hotels ever stayed. Right from check in reception person to everyone in the hotel were welcoming and kind. Never missed a chance to greet whenever there’s an eye contact which is too rare in Ohio ?.. I love how food was more on the healthy side. Joline from the breakfast room was too kind and her service was exceptional. Because we don’t eat meat she asked if she can get us turkey sausage. These days it’s rare to see such people with kindness. Rooms were spotless and comfortable mattress. Can’t miss the gym and pool table.. my older parents really had a good sleep after walking miles in Mackinac island..
