The Holiday Inn Express Gaylord offers generally positive experiences with clean rooms, comfortable beds, and attentive staff. Recent reviews highlight the helpfulness of front desk staff and the quality of breakfast. However, there are concerns regarding inconsistent service, maintenance issues, and potential security vulnerabilities.
We traveled to Gaylord for baseball. A little pricey but the room was very modern and comfortable. Clean, comfortable beds and the bathroom was spacious and clean. Front desk help was great.
Stayed here for about two weeks on a work trip, and the hotel is spotless clean, the staff has AMAZING customer service. The breakfast is very good, beds are super comfy and rooms are very clean. Good location, such a great experience here!
Clean and comfortable rooms. The built in luggage rack with hanging area in the bedroom was great. Very helpful staff, especially Jessica! She went out of her way to accommodate us multiple times. Thank you!
I stayed here around labor day 2025. I booked a jacuzzi room online and arrived and was offered a non jacuzzi room. After trying to prove my booking i was given what i actually booked. The tub in the room didnt work had to call for a repair. Maintenence tried to repair it but could not so I was given another room. This room had a non working phone and the tv had a red tint. The service at this location was very slow to respond to your needs and lots of non functioning things at the hotel. I often choose Holiday inn express when i travel. This was the worst experience i have had with them. I would never book this one again it is poorly ran and under staffed. With so many problems that the staff seemed to be unaware of all of the issues.
We recently had to relocate my 80 yr old grandmother away from the floodings at Black Lake and we had her stay here for 5 nights. Since we are from down state in Detroit, relocating her far south was not in her best interest. Being that she was away from her home for an extended period of time, she had a difficult time coping with the flooding. Polo at the front desk made sure she felt safe, looked after, and overall attended to her needs with the best professionalism I have ever experienced from a hotel front desk. He truly treated her and her experience as if she was his own mother. Thank you again Polo for your wonderful hospitality and care for my grandmother. The room was spotless and the accessibility was just what she needed. The room staff did an excellent job turning over the room, replenishing her towels for clean ones, and always checked in regularly to see if she needed anything. The staff truly made our difficult time into one to we can remember fondly. Thank you Holiday Inn Gaylord team for making my grandmothers stay a wonderful experience!
You would have thought the Front desk lady was disgusting her attitude was like nothing i experienced. The Housekeeper with the long brownish hair and glasses, her scrubs were a different color than the other Housekeepers needs to watch how she treats others, I understand respect your elders but your elders should respect you too. Not to mention I am a paying guest not sure if that even matters at this establishment because it sure did not seem like it.
Excellent location! I don't now where to start with my concerns. Okay 1st of all the elevators was not working. I explained to the front desk associate that I had hand surgery the day before and I couldn't carry my luggage up stairs. Therefore I requested to be moved to the 1st floor. He said that he couldn't change my room. The associate could have offered to help with my luggage but didn't offer any assistance. Number 2 my room had a chaise sofa which have stains of food or some other substance. Number 3 my room entry door looks as if was sprung there is a large gap between the locking mechanism and the door jam. Which could make your guest feel unsafe!
This hotel ruined my families entire trip up north. We found BED BUGS crawling all over the pillow!!! Disgusting! It all started with my daughter saying “eww, I’m not sleeping here, there is a bug!” I went over there and the bug was so big, it had obviously been a problem for a while. I caught it in a hotel cup and told my husband to pack up. By this time I had seen several bugs in the same pillow. I took the bug to the front desk and said we have a huge problem. The front desk guy took the cup and called a manager. I believe this manager eventually was the person that came in about a half hour later as we waiting in the lounge. They never spoke to me. I saw them talk about the room and he headed up to look. Their solution was to pay for us to stay in a different hotel. The only vacancy was an hour and half away. The immeasurable inconvenience this caused us and not once did the management team reach out to me to apologize or discuss the issue. I had to drive almost an hour and half away in the fog, AT MIDNIGHT! I have asked and asked for an incident report. The response I get is nothing. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!
My experience at this hotel was completely unacceptable. The front desk agent—Jessica, as I understand her name to be—was entirely absent for at least 15 minutes on two separate occasions. Both times I finally found her, she was either on her personal phone or in the breakfast area chatting with another employee instead of doing her job. I should never have to go searching for staff just to receive basic service. What made this even more appalling was the attitude I received from both of them. Their dismissive, irritated demeanor made it clear they felt I was interrupting their personal time, which is outrageous considering they were on the clock. This level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is absolutely disgraceful. This experience ruined my entire stay. I will never return to this property, and I will strongly advise everyone I know to avoid it as well. No guest should ever be treated this way.
My husband and I stayed at this location for a week and we absolutely loved it. Although a bit noisy, service was great, especially the employee James during breakfast time. He went above and beyond and breakfast was great. Very attentive and nice. Location was also nice with everything being close by.
