Guests generally praise the stunning golf courses and the value of packages, but opinions on accommodations and recent course conditions are divided. While some recent visitors found the golf pristine, others reported significant maintenance issues with bunkers and rough.
We played the Ridge Course, which is in great condition but a very interesting layout. Lots of carry and",up and down's". Not really walkable. No water on course.
Great deal for a weekend of golf for our annual guys golf trip. The villa's were nice and worked out perfect for our large group. Unfortunately, only one course on site, it's a short drive to the 2 other courses. Would have given 3-stars but...The food included at the restaurant was good, with a good selection. Would have been nice if all the choices on the menu were included but you get a lot with the entrees.
The Loon Resort was absolutely awesome! The golf courses are pristine similar conditions to a private country club. The accommodations were very good (overlooking the 18th hole) and the food was delicious and plentiful. The employees were so nice and always helpful. I will definitely be making a return trip!!
Loon - very well designed and mostly flat course. Really enjoyable course with some great scenery. Mountain Lakes - just like the name the front 9 feels like playing in the mountains. Great view but challenging course. Back 9 definitely has a lot water hazard.
We didn't stay at the Loon, we actually stayed at the Ridge. The rooms were nice but we didn't have a common area where we could relax and be with our group. The Loon's accommodations are much better. The courses were great and we had a great time golfing.
We stayed as part of a 3 day package over the May 24 weekend. The staff were excellent and the food was good. The shuttle service to the other courses was prompt. For the bad. The courses were all in terrible shape. All three had nice layouts but the bunkers had not been attended to as grass and weeds were growing out of them. The rough hadn't been cut in weeks. The accommodations need some serious upgrading. The beds were all singles and had to be as old as the buildings. They were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever experienced and they didn't come with any bed sheets. There was a mattress cover and a bed spread no sheets or blankets. I am pretty sure they don't wash the bed spread after people leave. That was so gross I had to sleep with my cloths on. It will be a hard pass for any future return trips for me.
It's a good resort - I'd say it's a step below the nicer resorts in Michigan but for the Group Golfer deal we all purchased as group of 8 it was a good value. We played all three courses - Loon, Ridge and Lakes - Lakes was by far our favorite - Ridge was fun too but very very tight fairways and lots of par 3s with forced carries so I would not recommend Ridge course for a newer player, Loon was a more balanced course that everyone in group enjoyed and felt was more playable. The lodging could be updated we stayed in Copenhagen and it's a bit dated, the shower with the weird wood sliding doors to the room and having double shower curtains was strange and smelled a little musty, but for a night to sleep it was OK. Staff were very welcoming and had a great breakfast buffet.
Townhouses could be updated a bit. Beds have no headboards so need a lot of pillows and we only had 2. But everyone was very helpful even though the city experienced a power loss for a few hours. Food is very good in the clubhouse. Love golfing the Lakes, one of my favorite courses, and the Loon.
